In 1989, a chance encounter led Chris Foster to interview for a position in the financial services industry. Chris, who had originally intended to enter his familys construction business after college, subsequently joined the local MassMutual agency in Greensboro. Little did he know at the time that his decision would not only launch a fulfilling personal and professional journey, but that it would also provide a path to significant national leadership roles within the financial services industry.
Over the years, Chris' practice evolved as he gained experience in certain areas of financial planning. Today, his firm, CSI Wealth Management, serves business owners and families with retirement planning and income distribution, estate and wealth transfer, and advanced risk management strategies. Despite the fact that Chris helps clients address every aspect of their financial picture, he remains committed to a planning approach that considers insurance foundational to everything else. “I have always strongly believed that without managing risk first, you really cannot proceed with any of the other important work of building your financial house,” he says.
Chris is passionate about his work for several reasons, the most important of which the opportunity it affords him to work with people in a meaningful way. It provides him with an outlet to practice his natural aptitude for technical detail, and to break down complex concepts into simple, digestible segments. Last but not least, his work feeds his desire to be of service to his community. “Helping clients with planning really appeals to me because it requires strategic thinking, creativity and technical expertise.”
In May 2016, Chris was named the 59th President of The Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU), the preeminent organization in the life insurance industry. His heavy involvement in the AALU over the past decade has given Chris unique perspective into legislative and regulatory changes, and access to an extensive network of highly regarded experts throughout the country. Chris is currently a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), The Society of Financial Services Professionals (SFSP), The National Association of Estate Planners and Councils (NAEPC), The Greensboro Estate Planning Council, and The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), of which he is a life and qualifying member.
Chris resides in Greensboro, North Carolina, with his wife, Leslie. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf.
